Bay Rose Society's
29th Annual Rose Show
May 9, 2009
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Annual Rose Show, helping to make it a huge success. The show was held once again at the Alladin Nursery in a tent set at the rear of the nursery, near Alladin's huge rows of rose selections. The weather was beautiful and the winds gusted only once, toppling a few vases. The entries were beautiful and abundant in spite of a sizzling heat wave followed by a cold spell in our area just weeks before the show.
A special thank you to Gustavo and his staff for their enormous help! Also thank you to our excellent judges, Karen Ernsberger, Barbara Gordon, Beverly Rose Hopper, Marianne Jameson and Dr. Lakshmi Sridharan.
Best in Show
Marge Callahan's magnificent floribunda, Bill Warriner
Karl Dost made a clean sweep of the top trophy placements, winning Queen of Show with his exquisite, deep red "Cesar E. Chavez," King of Show with another dark red "Asso di Cuori," and Princess of Show with a pink blend "Falling in Love." Congratulations, Karl! We on the coast envy those with inland gardens that can grow those dark reds!

A winning Mother/Daughter combo: Mom Marge Callahan with her Best in Show "Bill Warriner" and Emma (her first show!) with a blue ribbon for her miniature pink.
